Avoiding Lyme Disease

My dear friends…
Lyme disease has become a very serious problem in our area. People and their pets are at VERY HIGH RISK for contracting Lyme in our region. The CDC has an excellent page for Lyme statistics: www.cdc.gov/lyme/stats/maps.html  Here is a quote from the CDC website on Lyme disease:

Results of these [recent] studies suggest that the number of people diagnosed with Lyme disease each year in the United States is around 300,000. Notably, these estimates do not affect our understanding of the geographic distribution of Lyme disease. Lyme disease cases are concentrated in the Northeast and upper Midwest, with 14 states accounting for over 96% of cases reported to CDC. The results obtained using the new estimation methods mirror the geographic distribution of cases that is shown by national surveillance.

If you are here browsing my page, I assume you are a crunchy type- natural, outdoorsy and self sufficient. For years now I have been offering an organic, essential oil based insecticide (now called Tick Armor, previously named Botanical Bug Spray) that has a lab rating of 99% effective as a repellent and 85% effective as an insecticide (kill). This formula is tested as safe for dogs and horses. THIS formula is more effective than your home-brew because the BASE is non-alcohol, non-evaporating and therefore long lasting. It is natural, silica based.

A harmful trio (from left): a deer tick, lone star tick and dog tick.

I have also had available an essential oil mix formulated and rated by various renown herbalists as 99% effective as a repellent (previously named Ecophile Essentials) It is NOT tested yet on animals, nor is it scientifically lab tested, but is rated by thousands of users as extremely effective at repelling all biting insects. However, it is in an alcohol base- not very long lasting, and needs to be reapplied often.

In the next few weeks, I will be COMBINING the two formulas into a very strong, long lasting insecticide and repellent. It will be called Bug Barrier and will be effective at both repelling and killing biting bugs. This includes all the tick species that carry Borrelia (Lyme). This formula is endorsed by one of our herbal greats- Stephen Buhner, author of “Healing Lyme“.

I will still keep Tick Armor in stock along with the Bug Barrier… because the Bug Barrier will be expensive. It includes dozens of the best insecticidal essential oils from all over our Earth, including some I have to order from Europe. However, I assure you whatever the cost of Lyme prevention… it surely beats the alternative.

COSTS:
Tick Armor Insecticide: Reg size 4 oz $12; Family size 8 oz $20.00
